Despite more good news on the economic front, bad news just comes in bigger mobs. Recent notes, the Ginger House, a local restaurant with sushi service, is dropping its sushi. This regressives sushi to Peterborough and Concord, a bummer.

Irving Oil/Shaw’s is cutting back on their groceries for gas. It used to be $50 in groceries got you $.10 off per gallon at the pump. Now it is $.05.

Earlier this year, a trainer got killed at SeaWorld with cameras rolling. This tragic accident took a turn when the family of the trainer wanted the video footage sealed, citing privacy.
This brings up the question of privacy versus public right to know. Do we all have the right to control our image? Who decides what images are public domain or private propriety? What about retroactively gaining ownership of “public images”?
Public record (of the image variety) is so important for the public good. Going in the opposite direction is only fair if it is all or nothing. Giving certain groups the advantage to “cover up” is wrong and wrong. And that is where the SeaWorld case is so important. Being in public means being the public…subject to the eyes and the lenses therein.

Mitt Romney, former contender in the 2008 Presidential Olympiad, is known as Mr. Fixit. He rescued companies, states, and Olympic games. Despite his crippling good looks and bloated personal wealth, Mitt has himself a golden opportunity to set himself up for the next presidential race.

Haiti, a disaster with a disaster, is just about as bad as it gets. Perfect for a go to guy with chin and muscle. Bring your family. Their fashionable good looks would beautify by mere presence. But the Romneys bring more impressive ivories. They have family teamwork and solid Christian values.
And then there is the money. Not that it won’t end up in some foundation anyway. Why not cut loose a slab of millions. Show your mettle Mitt. If you rescue Haiti think of accolades—Mitt the Messiah of Haiti.
People, the voting public, would be sold on your boldness and executive nerve—-you would be unbeatable. But you need to get going. Time and opportunity are wasting (as well as scores of human lives).

Just a stab here, from the stadium seats of the Dead Pool, I am predicting that the McHale’s Navy survivors get whacked…Tim Conway, Bob Hastings, and the big E, Ernie Borgnine. Maybe all three, but at least one in the coming weeks. Make a fool out of myself.
